Week 4, 2018 Results and Standings

Week 4 Results and Standings are posted.

Tuesday, May 29 was another beautiful evening. Glenway was in somewhat strange shape with fairways newly cut and grass cuttings everywhere, while the roughs were very long in some strange locations.  You could be a few feet from the green and in some long rough.  On the positive side, mosquitos weren't quite as bad as I feared, although I heard from others that it got worse as the evening went along.

The average score improved to 47 in week 4 from 48 in week 2 to 50 in week 3.  8 of 27 golfers shot 50 or over - also an improvement from last week.  The commissioner unfortunately was again in that group.  He threw his club on 8 and will receive the appropriate fine.  Only Mark Woodruff broke 40 with a 39. Brent Hemstead had the next best score with a 41.  Low net scores were Eric Durkee and commissioner emeritus Dave Downing with 29's.

Birdies on the day were as follows:
  • Keith Brown on #4
  • Mark Woodruff on #4
  • Pat McEvilly Jr on #6
  • Andy LeBeau on #8
As far as the team standings, Team Molter's lead was cut to 3 points, as Team Raymer took advantage of their captain's absence to grab 5 points.  They suggested Matt take off next week also.  I have heard Team Jokisch has a similar suggestion for their captain.

On the challenges, Tom Stafford won closest to the pin on the first shot on hole #3.  That's two weeks in a row for Tom.  Mark Woodruff won longest drive on hole #5.  Mike Brania won longest putt on hole #8.  That's two weeks in a row for Mike also.  Bob Jokisch won closest second shot on hole #9 - he refrained from throwing his club on that hole.
