This is interesting to see. Wondering which Topp was the winner each year early on since there were multiple Topps in the league. Is it possible to tell which one was the winner each year? Thanks!
Great question! As far as I can tell, there were two Topp brothers in the league. George Topp, and Louis "Buss" Topp". My guess is that both brothers played on the same team, and the "Champion" each year is named for the captain of the 4-person team. If you look at the "low average" column, you can see that sometimes George was low average, and sometimes Buss was low average.
I just googled "George Topp" and "golf" and found a great picture of him as a kid, with Steve Carvello, who was also a top Madison Amateur for years.

Thanks for the additional info. This was super cool to see. More detail for everyone, George & Bus Topp are my great uncles.
Very cool, thanks again for the question, Greg. Hope to see you at league as a sub.
