Tough Day to be the Commissioner

One of those days - forecast is bad - might turn nice if the round is called too early -  might turn out bad if called too late.  The first groups got wet, but it could have been worse if not called when it was (except for those I left without a ride on the second green).  Thanks to the Glenway staff for sharing the radar view and putting player safety first.  My apologies to all who claimed they were having the round of their life.  I hope everyone stopped in the clubhouse and picked up a rain check.

We will try again next week with our second "double-header" of the season.

Week 5 Results - May 20

The results for May 20 are posted to the right.  After a cold and wet spring, we finally had a perfect night for golf.  Low scores did not follow, with Keith Brown leading the way with a 37.  Mike Sanders rebounded with a net 27.  Team Molter is threatening to run away with the first half title, with a surging Team Moritz trying to keep close.  We had 37 players this week, and are still looking forward to our first 40 player night.

Week 4 Results - May 13

The results from a less than ideal week 4 are posted to the right.  With the wet weather of the previous couple days, the greens were shaggy and difficult to putt.  Matt Raymer was the only one to figure them out, shooting a 39, net 28 (though I may need to check into the rumor that Shane Gibson conceded every putt Matt had within 10 feet).  The scoring average was up more than 3 strokes from the previous week.  The 225 strokes put up by the last foursome may have challenged the league record.

Also posted to the right is an updated sub list.  The three names in the middle (Nick Naus, Rex Merdinger, and Ben Shepard) are people referred by Glenway staff (thanks to them for that), and all are anxious to play.  We only had 35 golfers on May 13, so I hope that the additional subs will make it more likely that we get a 40 player turnout.

The controversy for the night revolved around the hole prizes.  The first group out neglected to identify the hole contest on #2, so the first Molter-Kraus pairing decided it should be for long putt.  Apologies to Keith Brown if it was intended to be for closest to the pin.

Results from Weeks 2 and 3

The results from May 6, our "double header" night, are posted to the right.  Team Weber continued its hot start, with team Molter right behind and team Rieves coming up from the outside.  There were a couple hotly contested matches, including Dave Downing shooting the low net for the night (28) to win his match by one over Steve Hineline, and Bob Jokisch and Pat Fahey shooting matching net 29s (both blind week 2 matches).  Shane Gibson took two shots at those of us standing on the terrace near hole 9, fortunately missing both times.  Hopefully a late arriving Captain Nelson will get around to paying for his round next week, and we will see more members of team Miller.
