Updates to UW Employee Golf League

I am pleased to announce that we have an eighth team - Team Larson.  We moved a few players around and Team Larson only has three players, but eight teams is better than an odd number of seven, and we want to get everyone interested in golfing out there.  If anyone knows of another golfer interested in joining our league, please let me know.  I will check with our substitutes also.  Otherwise, we will use a bye for the one player.  The new team rosters, a new schedule, and the new sub list are on the right.

Team Larson will tee off Tuesday at 4:36.  Our first tee time for the league will now be 4:36 with eight teams.

Bill at Glenway asked me to let you know the following:

• Beer will be available for purchase prior to your round.  Sounds like it will be in a cooler with a charge card reader.  No beer will be available after the round - they don't want players hanging around after their round.  No chairs will be there.
• No more than the four players teeing off should congregate around the first tee.  Please keep a distance from others.  We don't want to jeopardize golf staying open.

Welcome to the 2020 UW Employee Golf League

Welcome to the crazy, hopefully once in a lifetime version of the UW Employee Golf League for 2020.

Just a reminder to please let me know if you have a loyalty card or season pass.  Also, let me know if you are using a motorized golf cart or renting a walking cart.  So far, here is what I have on this:

Also a reminder of the following for Glenway:

• No rakes, ball washers, or benches
• Pin doesn't come out - foam insert keeps ball from going all the way down the hole
• No score cards - keep score n phone or print out sent earlier.  Whoever keeps score for the foursome is responsible for sending the commissioner the scores and any birdies after the round
• No prize flags - no hole prizes this year

Reminders:

·      Hit your tee shots on hole 8 from the upper tee.

·      You must count at least one tee shot from each member of your group. On your scorecard, note who hit the tee shot you used on each hole.

·      Count your putts on each hole, and note them on the scorecard.

Rules (for those unfamiliar with the scramble format):

1.    Each foursome plays as a team and keeps one score for the team (including putts).

2.    After each golfer tees off, the team picks one shot to play next, and each golfer hits from there. The three people whose shots won't be used should retrieve their balls and drop within a club-length of the ball chosen to be played, but if the ball you are playing is in the rough or a hazard you must play from that rough or hazard. You may improve your lie (winter rules).

3.    Follow this same procedure until your team holes out.

4.  One shot/ball per golfer - if you only have three golfers, only three shots.

5.    When putting, the first person puts a mark down to identify where the others should putt from if the first person misses.

6.    At least one tee shot from each golfer in the foursome must be used on one of the nine holes. You do not need to decide whose tee shot is to be used until after everybody has teed off on a hole, unless you are forced to use a specific golfer’s tee shot on holes 7, 8, or 9 because you have not used one of their tee shots yet.

Tiebreakers

1.    Most holes-in-one

2.    Most eagles

3.    Most birdies

4.    Fewest putts

5.    Higher average team handicap (those without handicaps will not be counted)

6.    If still tied, prize money will be divided proportionally.

Golf Canceled for Tuesday, October 1

I spoke with Bill at Glenway and he said Glenway is very wet and the forecast is for further rain this afternoon and tonight.  Therefore, we are canceling golf tonight.  Let me know if anyone is interested in playing next Tuesday - weather permitting.
