Championship Week and Scramble (August 23, 2022)

This week is the championship match and a scramble for the other teams.  For those who are in the scramble, remember to count your putts.

Championship Matches:
4:40 Larson v. Rieves
Keith Brown (8) v. Dave Rieves (6)
Dan Steinhoff (10) v. Mike Brania (9)

4:50 Larson v. Rieves
Andrew Preboski (13) v. Barry Wanner (13)

Scott Larson (8) v. Ambuj Shatdal (9) (To be played at later date.)

Regarding the championship match, in case of a tie (3-3 in points), the League Champions will be the team that won more individual matches in the Championship.  If the two teams are still tied after the first tie breaker, the League Champions will be the Team with the lower overall handicap going into the Championship match

Scramble:
5:00 Team Kraus

5:10 Team Raymer

5:20 Team McEvilly

5:30 Team Downing

5:40 Team Hammen

5:50 Team Jokisch

Reminders for the Scramble:
·      You must count at least one tee shot from each member of your group. On your scorecard, note who hit the tee shot you used on each hole.
·      Count your putts on each hole, and note them on the scorecard.

Rules (for those unfamiliar with the scramble format):
1.    Each foursome plays as a team and keeps one score for the team (including putts).
2.    After each golfer tees off, the team picks one shot to play next, and each golfer hits from there. The three people whose shots won't be used should retrieve their balls and drop within a club-length of the ball chosen to be played, but if the ball you are playing is in the rough or a hazard you must play from that rough or hazard. You may improve your lie (winter rules).
3.    Follow this same procedure until your team holes out.
4.  One shot/ball per golfer - if you only have three golfers, only three shots.
5.    When putting, the first person puts a mark down to identify where the others should putt from if the first person misses.
6.    At least one tee shot from each golfer in the foursome must be used on one of the nine holes. You do not need to decide whose tee shot is to be used until after everybody has teed off on a hole, unless you are forced to use a specific golfer’s tee shot on holes 7, 8, or 9 because you have not used one of their tee shots yet.

Tiebreakers
1.    Most holes-in-one
2.    Most eagles
3.    Most birdies
4.    Fewest putts
5.    Higher average team handicap (those without handicaps will not be counted)
6.    If still tied, prize money will be divided proportionally.

Week 13 (August 2, 2022) Results and Standings

Week 13 was a pleasant night as we avoided the rain which held off until Wednesday.  The 31 golfers who played for our eight teams had an average score of 48 - a slight improvement over the previous week's 49.  Only one golfer, Jimmy Yednock, once again, was the only golfer who broke 40, while two golfers, Scott Larson and Mark Woodruff, shot 40.  Gary Buehler, Carl Akre, and Scott Larson had the low net score with a 31, while Tom Mack shot a net 32.

Somebody missed the memo!  You are supposed to let the commissioner's team win!  With Team Rieves taking 5 of 6 points from Team Jokisch, the standings got a lot closer.  The standings after five weeks in the second half found Team Jokisch and Team Larson tied for first with 20 points.  Team Rieves is in third with 17 points.  There is only a difference of 4.5 points between the top six teams.  ,

The first two week's results of the Flight Tournament are listed on the right.  Just as a reminder, the league’s golfers are separated into three flights based on Week 12 handicaps.  Net scores are calculated for the last four weeks of the season will be calculated using the players week 12 handicap.  The three best net scores are summed for each golfer, and the golfer with the lowest combined net score in each flight is a tournament winner.  In case of ties, the prize money will be divided among those tied.
