2013 Yearbook

Below are links to the pages of the 2013 yearbook.  Thank you everyone for a great year.  As determined at the banquet, we will attempt to return to a 10 team league next season.  Anyone aware of interested participants, please contact me (that includes team Warren if you are reading the blog).

Second Half Results

The results from August 20 and the final standings are now posted.  The second half was particularly competitive, with three teams tying for first.  The first tie breaker is head-to-head competition in the second half.  Teams Kraus and Moritz both defeated team Nelson, preventing a two half sweep.  The Kraus and Moritz teams tied in the second half, but team Kraus won three matches, which is the same tie breaker that was used in the Miller-Wolfe championship match a couple years back.  Also, team Kraus finished higher than team Moritz in the first half.  So, it will be a Kraus-Nelson matchup for the league title, and efforts to get it scheduled before the banquet on Tuesday are underway.

There was a good response on the signup sheet for the banquet.  For those of you who did not sign, I will contact you (if I have contact information) to see if you just didn't see the sheet or if you are not available.  I do not plan to post any further results until after the banquet, but all will be revealed next Tuesday evening.

Updates and Banquet Info

As promised, below are updates on the Sy Brandt and year-end tournament.

Regarding the banquet, there will be a sign-up sheet at the front desk for those who want to attend on August 27.  The cost will be $20 for food (drinks on your own), and we will meet in the same room that we have in previous years.  I hope that most of you will attend.

Sy Brandt Standings
22.93  Kevin Kiser
22.91  Will Nagel
22.61  Lynn Paulson
22.29  Brad Nelson
20.60  Dave Rieves

Steve McDonnell has a strangle-hold for the tournament's first flight, having already posted an 81.  Dave Rieves is currently in second at 93.

The second flight is more competitive, with Will Nagel leading with an 83.  Paul Barnett and Steve Moritz are close behind at 86.

In the third flight, Ed Corcoran has posted an 83, with Pat Fahey in second with an 88.

Year End Banquet

Brad Nelson is making arrangements for the league banquet (given that all of defending champion Team Warren left the league this year).  He is checking with Paisans.  The question for all of you - should the banquet be on August 27?  Please let me know by the end of the night on August 20.

Week 13 Results

The results from week 13 are now posted, and the results for week 12 as well.

The standings are of particular interest.  All 8 teams are within 5 points of each other.  Team Nelson is well positioned for a two half sweep (plus the league scramble), but 6 teams have some hope of winning the second half.

Steve McDonnell had the low score this week, with his third straight 38.  Tom Weber had the low net with a 23.  There have been some extraordinary low net scores lately, which should make for a competitive tournament.  Speaking of which, I will provide an update on the tournament and the Sy Brandt standings later this week.

Week 11 Highlights

The results from week 11 are now posted.  The big story this week was a 6 point sweep by the Molter team, highlighted by a stellar 34 (net 22) shot by Will Nagel.  With the sweep, the Molter team has a narrow lead over the Moritz team, who were almost single handedly saved by Steve Moritz's 7 stroke beat down of the Commissioner (no doubt there will be some consequences for that indiscretion).

The Nelson team made a push for a rare two half sweep by securing 5 points, despite a 10 stroke win by Ed Corcoran for the McEvilly team.  Apparently the McEvilly twosome was so focused on not losing retired Pat's wallet on the course for the second straight week that they neglected to focus on their golf games.  Proof that it is difficult to multitask and succeed at golf.
