Week 1 Results - Revenge of the Moritzes

Well, that was great getting back out there with the old gang!  There was that one guy I haven't seen since August, and then old what's-his-name with that one club.  What a hoot.  Results and standings are posted over there somewhere --->.

Week 1 saw a rematch of last year's championship, with the Moritz team getting some meaningless, early-season revenge against the returning champion McEvilly team 6-0, and taking the week 1 lead.  We also saw a battle between the league's two lowest-handicap golfers, with Lynn Paulson taking the match against Dave Rieves.

Interesting scorecards for week 1: There were 9 total birdies (two each from Lynn Paulson and Steve Moritz) and FIVE birdies on the first hole.  Not too many first-week, first-hole jitters, I guess.

I'll work on getting the new sub list posted soon.  Please continue to help recruit.  We still need 2-3 full-time golfers.  We've got one new golfer in the league so far, recruited by Charlie Hoslet - Don Nelson has joined the Rieves team.

Week 1 Pairings - Giddyup!

Here we go, men! The 2012 season begins Tuesday - with a projected sunny high of 66.

Here are some things to remember:

• We're starting early to beat the sunset! Be sure to check the tee times for this week on this web site.
  
• We still need three new golfers - one for the Rieves team and two for the Warren team. Let Dave or Mike know if you have a candidate.
  
• If you're a regular, bring your annual dues of $25 for the Commissioner. I'd rather not have to chase them down.
• Keep the pace brisk. We don't want to keep anybody from their post-round beer.
• The max you can score on a hole is 5 over par. So, pick the darn ball up after an 8 (on the par 3's) or a 9 (on the par 4's). This is a pace-of-play rule, so don't flaunt it by hitting your shots anyway - that defeats the purpose and makes everybody hate your guts.
• Please put first and last names on the scorecards, at least early on, so I make sure I know who was golfing.
• I'll post an updated sub list soon. We're running out of names to put on it, though. Ask around at work, etc. to see if anybody's interested.

League Season to Begin on April 24

Hi - I've been a bit slow to wake up this spring, even though courses opened up very early.

For those of you who missed the banquet last year, be sure to congratulate Pat McEvilly (and whoever he brings in to golf with him) on their 2011 League Championship!

The 2012 league season will begin on Tuesday, April 24. Because it's early in the year (and the early league isn't playing) we'll move everybody up four tee times. That way, we will all be in before dark.
