Greetings, golfers!
This is a message is from your new commissioner. I want to thank Dan Steinhoff for helping me get started. He devised the season schedule, and gave me all kinds of useful information. By the way, if you're interested in following Dan's hike on the Appalachian Trail, look for videos at https://www.youtube.com/@WiscoWanderers.
There are four things to note about the start of our season:
(1) New starting time
Our first tee time has been moved up ten minutes to 4:30 p.m. This is to accommodate a league that will tee off after us (!?!)
(2) Greens fees
Fees for our 16-week season may now be paid at The Glen, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fees are $405.12, except for those who have a loyalty card ($371.36) or a season pass (free). Please make payment before our first week of play.
(3) League fees
Your $45 league fee is also due by the start of league play. You can bring me cash or a check for $45, or Venmo that amount to me @David-Carlson-41.
(4) Scramble
League play begins April 29 with a scramble, the schedule for which is as follows:
4:30 Team Mack (2024 champions)
4:40 Team Larson
4:50 Team Downing
5:00 Team Raffel
5:10 Team Rieves
5:20 Team Kraus
5:30 Team Raymer
5:00 Team Raffel
5:10 Team Rieves
5:20 Team Kraus
5:30 Team Raymer
5:40 Team Hackers
Rules for the scramble include the usual requirement to use one tee shot from each player. I don't know how that's been interpreted in the past, but let's include tee shots on all the par threes as counting toward that requirement. New this year, there is a two putt max (still, keep track of putts, since fewest putts is the tiebreaker), and we will use the upper tee on #8.
No word yet on whether an official drop zone will be created for the lower tee on #8, but when we tee off there on alternating weeks beginning May 6, we will act as if there is one. In case of an errant tee shot (out of bounds, lost or unplayable), players shall drop a ball to the right of where the path emerges from the weeds, just forward enough for an unimpeded backswing.
Looking forward to a great year!
